NFL 2018 Mock Draft 1.0:

This is a mock draft but I think this is mostly what each team should do with their pick and the right move for each team. The picks are not biased for the Giants.

  1. CLE- Sam Darnold, QB, USC: The Browns pounce on this opportunity to complete their offense with a franchise quarterback (Not tryna throw shade on Tyrod). They get this amazing prospect from USC that could do wonders.
  2. BUF(from NYG)- Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA: Buffalo sends two first round (12, 22) and more to get up here and get the player they desire. Hopefully, the franchise player they need. They invest a lot in Josh Rosen by sending a lot away for him.
  3. NYJ- Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming: The Jets get a cannon of an arm from the Wyoming QB prospect. Also a player to be a face of a franchise. A raw prospect that can learn from the vet Josh McCown.
  4. CLE- Saquan Barkley, RB, Penn State: Cleveland jumps the gun with a running back at #4. Filling a team need, sorry Carlos Hyde, while still getting a quarterback for the future. Trying to build up their offense the Browns get a generational running back that completes their, now, star studded attack. The Browns are very pleased to get two players at the top of their draft board. It does not seem that the Browns have messed up with this draft, well let’s hope.
  5. DEN- Quenton Nelson, OL, Notre Dame: Upset that they were not able to get a quarterback, the #1 team need, the Broncos fill another team void. The monster offensive guard should jump start their offensive line and help protect the quarterback from the interior defenders. The Broncos did not want to risk it with Mayfield so they were fine with a lineman. Hopefully, Case Keenum will play like he did last year.
  6. IND- Bradley Chubb, DE, NC State: The Colts take advantage of the fact that such a great pass rusher fell to them. This will help their defense and will help them get to the quarterback.
  7. TAM- Minkah Fitzpatrick, DB, Alabama: The Bucs select Fitzpatrick and it will help a lot. Their secondary last year was not something to be envied. It was abysmal. Fitzpatrick should instantly jump start this secondary and their defense will be looking a lot better with him and JPP.
  8. CHI- Marcus Davenport, DE, UTSA: The Bears fill a void which is the spot of defensive end. This pick is of a monster DE that could turn out to be the best pass rusher in the class.
  9. SF- Denzel Ward, CB, Ohio State: The 49ers select Ward after winning the coin toss withe Raiders to get the 9th pick. Things seem to be going their way after getting their franchise QB after Garoppolo. Now they need to fix their secondary which is a mess and they can become a playoff team.
  10. OAK- Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Virginia Tech: This guy is a monster. Measuring in about 6’5’’ 250, Edmunds should instantly boost the interior linebacker position for the Raiders. He can do everything for the team and will likely be able to become a captain. He is extremely athletic and should help this team a lot.
  11. MIA- Vita Vea, DT, Washington: Should fill the role that Suh used to fill for the Dolphins. He is a decent sized interior lineman and may eventually be a three down lineman. Will help the D-Line rotation for them a lot.
  12. NYG- Harold Landry, EDGE, Boston College: Giants traded down to get the 12th and 22th because they did not want a quarterback quite yet. Gettleman thinks Eli still has a few more years to play, let’s hope. In addition, they also got two second round picks +more. The Giants stock up on picks to build a team around Eli Manning before he retires. They draft Landry because they need to fill that DE spot after JPP left. He could also play the OLB spot in their 3-4 defense.
  13. WAS- Roquan Smith, LB, Georgia: They find someone here who can be a captain of their defense. Look to see them focus on defense as well later in the draft.
  14. GB- Derwin James, DB, Florida State: Their pass coverage was awful last year and Derwin James is the fix they need.
  15. ARI- Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma: The Cardinals send away their first day selection (No.15) and some later picks to trade up for a franchise QB in this very QB deep draft. Mayfield dropped because of his height and “off-field issues” but he could be great for this team. Bradford, obviously, is not the long-term solution so they get one here.
  16. BAL- Calvin Ridley, WR, Alabama: This pick will give the Ravens the #1 receiver they need. They need Ridley and he is a good fit for their offense.
  17. LAC- Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame: The Chargers get a much needed upgrade to their offensive tackle position. They are also trying to build a team around their QB, Rivers, before he retires.
  18. SEA- Mike Hughes, CB, UCF: The Seahawks try to rebuild their secondary after Richard Sherman a member of the legion of boom left. They need him a lot.
  19. DAL- Da’Ron Payne, DT, Alabama: The Cowboys get an interior defensive lineman that they deeply need. This will help their defense that has many holes.
  20. DET- Derrius Guice, RB, LSU: The Lions get help for Matthew Stafford, who they have been going all-in on, at the running back position. They get the running back they needed and get a great rusher out of Guice who, in my opinion, has elite talent.
  21. CIN- Isiah Wynn, G, Georgia: The Bengals help Dalton inside because he was hit a lot and his level of play reflected it. He was not able to get the ball to A.J. Green and you could see Green’s frustration when he punched Jalen Ramsey (LOL).
  22. NYG(From BUF)- Will Hernandez, G, UTEP: Two guards picked back to back. Hmm. This pick is a must need for the Giants because their O-Line has been awful. Gettleman has tried to improve the O-Line and this massive guard should help do the trick.
  23. NE- Joshua Jackson, CB, Iowa: This pick that was sent from the Rams should fill the void Butler left when he left. This guy, I think, might be the best DB in the class. The Patriots are always smart with their picks.
  24. CAR- DJ Moore, WR, Maryland: The Panthers help their depleted receiving core by drafting the stud from Maryland. This should give Cam a #1 target
  25. TEN- Maurice Hurst, DL, Michigan: He fell due to his heart condition but he could still be a powerful force within the NFL. This should help their interior D-Line a lot.
  26. ATL- Hayden Hurst, TE, South Carolina: The Falcons have no true TE right now for Matt Ryan so this former minor league baseball player should do the trick for them.
  27. NOR- Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville: The Saints do not want to pass up on this talented QB prospect. This guy is a dual-threat that could be a danger to NFL defenses. Also, the Saints are trying to find a heir for Drew Brees with this pick. Hopefully, Jackson will be able to learn a lot from Brees and perfect his game.
  28. PIT- Rashaan Evans, LB, Alabama: Man there have been a lot of people from Alabama. The Steeler’s linebackers have not been very strong and after Shazier’s injury they do not know if he will be able to play. The try to get a strong inside/outside linebacker with this Alabama prospect.
  29. JAC- Leighton Vander Esch, LB, Boise State: Two linebackers picked back-to-back. Hmm. The Jaguars try to fill the void Paul Posluszny left when he retired. They get a guy, I feel, that could fill his void greatly.
  30. MIN- Kolton Miller, OT, UCLA: The Vikings O-Line is not very good but it is going to have to be after how much money they spent on their new quarterback. They get Kolton Miller with this pick to help protect Kirk Cousins. I think Miller could be the best offensive tackle in this draft.
  31. NE- Mason Rudolph, QB, Oklahoma State: They find the heir to Tom Brady after the trade that sent Garrapolo to the 49ers left them without a backup quarterback to take Brady’s role (Not looking like a good trade). Mason Rudolph showed sparks in college and could turn out to be a fine quarterback. He will also have time, probably a couple of years, to learn from the best ever in his position.
  32. PHI- Sam Hubbard, EDGE, Ohio State: The Eagles, reigning champs (UGH), have a pretty solid team right now so they are just looking for depth and people to groom under the current starters. Also Hubbard should make for a nice rotation with the current starters at DE and OLB. Michael Bennett is also having his problems.
