The New York Giants drafted the 6’1”, 185 lbs. CB in the third round of the supplemental round. This means that they forfeit their 3rd round pick for the 2019 draft. This could be very beneficial for the Giants because if he performs as well as a third round pick would or better than we could fill an need immediately. He was a lockdown cornerback at Western Michigan and he could come in and help the Giants a lot. Some say that he is the best supplemental draft pick since Josh Gordon.

Anyways he is regarded as the best player in this years supplemental draft and by some a first round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Furthermore, he is not like most supplemental draft players. He does not have behavioral/law problems. The fact is that he just did not get enough credits to graduate in his junior year so he was ineligible to play for his senior season.

Beal is very long and athletic with a 4.4-4.5 40-yard dash, a 10’6” broad jump, and a ridiculous 37-inch vertical jump. So hopefully Beal will come in and start in the slot or even take Eli Apple’s spot on the outside. This should cause some much needed competition with William Gay, B.W. Webb, Curtis Riley, and Grant Haley.

This is what our General Manager David Gettleman had to about Sam Beal “We’re very, very excited about getting Sam in the draft,” Gettleman said. “He’s long, he’s very athletic for a corner, he has all the physical skills, he can carry the vertical, he has very good play speed, he shows instincts out there, he has ball awareness, he doesn’t panic when the ball is thrown at his guy, and he is a very willing tackler. We just feel it gives us a really talented young kid with the ability to ascend.” Stay tuned for more.
