The Giants signed Leonard Johnson, veteran cornerback. He should add some much needed depth at that position. He could sneak in as the slot defender over William Gay. Especially since Gay exited practice today with a hamstring injury. Hopefully, he will be fine. The cornerback position is not strong for the Giants but Leonard Johnson makes it stronger.

Johnson, 28 years old,  has started 27 games over his career, with 32 pass deflections, 180 tackles, 5 interceptions, 6 forced fumbles, and 2 touchdowns. Hopefully, he can work up some of that magic and impress people at cornerback.

Right now the Giants have one strong cornerback and that is Janoris Jenkins. There is an argument for two due to the fact that Eli Apple has been impressing coaches and is likely (well at least in my eyes) to have a strong bounce back year. With Sam Beal out for the season(having the surgery today actually) the Giants need to muster up a strong cornerback rotation to not get beat buy opposing teams on their aerial attack. The Giants have Donte Deayon who has been looking good and he is young also. However, he is also dealing with a leg problem. Besides that there is B.W. Webb and Curtis Riley. The Giants will hopefully have a clear-cut nickel cornerback by Week 1. Leonard Johnson might be that guy. Stay tuned for more.
