Giants Win 27-23. Here are my notes:
- The offense looked great. We got some push on the offensive line and Eli was also able to have time in the passing game. Hopefully Jamon Brown and the core continues to play this way. Furthermore, Eli Manning and the skill played great also. He had three touchdowns, two of them being to Odell. And the final touchdown came on a game winning drive that ended out with Sterling Shepard catching the touchdown. On the other hand, Saquon only played okay. It didn’t really matter since we won. He did 100 scrimmage which is still respectable. (Note: only one sack was allowed this game which is a big improvement)
- The defense needs to step up. I know we traded away Apple and Harrison but if we want to make the playoffs like Odell said then we need to get something going. However, the defense did have some bright spots. B.J. Goodson intercepted the ball off of a Janoris Jenkins deflection which set up the first touchdown of the game to Odell. In addition, our run defense was manageable. Overall though, we had 0 sacks and we could not defend George Kittle the 49ers tight end. We have to look to improve against a high powered Ryan Fitzpatrick lead offense out Tampa Bay.
- Finally, Special Teams played amazing. Corey Coleman was a great kick returner in his first game with the Giants. Aldrick Rosas also went 2/2 for field goals and 3/3 for extra points.
